Floor Fans
Floor fans are placed on the floors rather then fixed in the widows or hung on the ceilings. They may be pedestal fans or the fans placed on the tables. Floor fans are designed so that they produce movements to cool and circulate the air without causing drafts.
The sizes of the floor fans are generally 10 inch to 12 inch in diameter. They are mounted in rectangular or round hassock type cases. A hassock type fan throws the air upward and outward in a 360 degree direction.
A rectangular floor fan usually tilts about 170 degrees and can be used as a table fan. It will throw the draft of air outward. If it is used as a floor fan, it can be tilted to throw the air current upwards. While some expensive floor fans have choice to control the speed, others, less costly, run at fixed speed.
The other type of floor fans is the oscillating fan. An oscillating fan has circular grille whose diameters varies from 8 inches to 16 inches. It can be used on the floor, on the table and also fixed on the wall.
The tilt angle of the oscillating fans varies from 50 degrees to 90 degrees. Their oscillation has a radius of 90 cms and they can be switched off by twisting the knob.
It should be noted that the grille work for all the fans should be close to prevent any danger to the small kids who may insert their tiny fingers through the grille and touch the blades.
