Fans

The technical definition of fan is an electrical or manually powered device which induces air flow by revolution or oscillation. They are usually made of flat surfaces of metal or high quality plastic. But fans have been around for years now. Life without fans is impossible. They are used in all kinds of appliances, homes, offices and factories. Solar fans, duct fans, exhaust fans etc are some of the common types of fans in use. The function of fans remains the same whether in homes or in appliances. It is used to generate air or to remove air. Usually there are two main types of fans, AC fans and DC fans. But now there are many more types of fans that can be purchased. These can be classified according to their source of power or according to the fan design. So we have battery fans which are usually portable and run on a battery and we also have solar powered fans which run on solar electricity. But solar fans are mostly outdoor fans and cannot be used indoor in homes. Also another drawback of these fans is that they cannot be used in areas which do not have a direct and excellent source of sun light.

Functioning

Depending on the kind of appliance that you are using the fan in, you may also need auto cooling fans or axial fans for ventilation. Heaters fans are also used in a variety of places. In case you have a greenhouse it is better if you use one of the greenhouse exhaust fans for the proper functioning of the greenhouse. So in simpler terms there are hardly any places where the fan is not used. Dismantle any big appliance and you are bound to find at least 10 different fans for cooling.
