Fiberglass Insulation

Fiberglass insulation can be done by using fiberglass bits or blankets. The bits are precut pieces of blanket insulation. They come in sizes of 4 feet or 8 feet of continuous lengths. The standard width is 16 inches or 24 inches. The thickness is 3 in., 6 in., and 9 in. These blankets are best suited for wood framing that uses the same dimensions between studs. Bits or blankets are available either faced or unfaced.

Foil backing in blanket insulation is much better than paper backing. It is, however, advisable to use unfaced blankets or bits if your re insulating over the existing insulation. It saves the costs as your existing insulation is already backed with facing material.

Fiberglass insulation blankets work better on blown insulation as they provide additional coverage over the blown insulation.
